It is a frustrating combination: Google Search Console shows impressions, Analytics shows visitors and the inbox stays quiet.
The first reaction is usually, “We need more traffic.” Sometimes that is true. Sometimes the website already has enough traffic to prove the real problem is further down the journey.
Traffic and enquiries are different jobs
A search result can bring somebody to your page. It cannot make the visitor trust the company, understand the service or decide to contact you.
That work belongs to the page.
Imagine someone searches for “website designer Abuja”. They click your result and see a homepage full of large pictures, a paragraph about how passionate your company is and a generic Contact Us button. They still do not know what you build, who it is for, what a normal project costs or why they should speak to you.
The visitor can leave without anything technically being broken.
Look at the search intent
The words somebody typed into Google matter. A person searching “how to make a website” is at a different stage from someone searching “ecommerce website developer Abuja”.
If your page answers the first query while trying to sell to the second visitor, the mismatch shows up as weak enquiries.
Give each important service a real page
“Our Services” is often one weak page trying to represent ten different offers.
If you provide website design, local SEO, ecommerce and website repair, those services deserve clear pages. Each page can explain the problem, the work, the process, who it suits and the next step.
That is better for users and creates a healthier structure for organic search.
Show the person what happens after the click
Contact buttons work better when they reduce uncertainty.
Instead of only saying “Contact us”, try language that answers the next question:
- Tell us what is happening with your website.
- Request a project estimate.
- Ask us to review your current website.
- Start a WhatsApp conversation.
The visitor should not have to guess what the form is for.
Do not hide the useful information
People want to know the basics. What do you offer? Where are you based? Do you work with businesses outside your city? How does the process work? What range should they expect?
You do not need to publish a rigid price list, but giving some context can save the right visitors from leaving.
Trust is part of conversion
For Nigerian businesses, trust can be especially practical. Show a real business name. Explain where you work from. Show genuine projects. Explain what happens to an enquiry. Use honest testimonials when you have them.
Do not fill empty space with fake statistics or invented client logos. A smaller amount of real proof is stronger than a large amount of decoration.
Check the mobile journey
A large share of visitors will experience the page on a phone. Open your own website on one and try to complete the action you want a customer to take.
Can you find the service? Can you read the price or package? Can you tap WhatsApp? Can you fill the form without fighting the keyboard? Does the page load before you lose patience?
Use your data properly
Search Console is useful for finding the queries and pages that receive impressions. Analytics can help show what visitors do after they arrive. Put the two together.
A page with many impressions but poor clicks may need a better search snippet. A page with traffic but no enquiries may need a better offer, clearer copy, stronger proof or a simpler contact path.
The first fixes I would make
I would not redesign everything immediately.
First, identify the pages that already receive meaningful attention. Then check the intent, the headline, the offer, the proof and the call to action. Run our website health check for the technical basics, then review the human journey.
More visitors are not a substitute for a better next step. Sometimes the quickest growth move is helping the people who have already arrived know exactly what to do.
